About the job
The primary goal of a Technical Project Manager is to plan, coordinate, and oversee the successful delivery of projects from initiation to completion. This involves helping define project scope, timelines, and deliverables; managing resources and budgets; mitigating risks; and ensuring effective communication across stakeholders.
The role is focused on bridging the gap between technical teams and business objectives, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards, while fostering collaboration, removing obstacles, and driving continuous improvement in project execution.
Responsibilities
Support the Lead Technical Project Manager: Work closely with the Lead Technical Project Manager to provide support as needed, escalate predefined scenarios, implement new processes on request, and communicate down to individual contributor level when required to keep delivery moving forward as planned.
Oversee Project Execution: Monitor progress, manage dependencies, and adjust plans proactively to address changing requirements or constraints in a team of 50+ engineers.
Manage Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and changes to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Help to Establish Project Scope: Collaborate with stakeholders to establish project objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria.
Mitigate Risks and Resolve Issues: Identify potential risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve project blockers to maintain momentum.
Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams: Facilitate collaboration between development, QA, product, and business people to align on goals and priorities.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Gather feedback after project completion and implement lessons learned to refine future project execution.
Job requirements
Mandatory
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience:
5+ years of proven experience managing software development projects, either as a Project Manager or Lead Developer.
5+ years of recent experience in software development, including hands-on commercial coding within the last 3-4 years.
Experience working in small to medium-sized businesses, specifically organizations with approximately 20 to 100 employees.
Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, or similar.
Foundational knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and modern software delivery concepts, with the ability to discuss them confidently even if not directly implementing them.
Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and related delivery methodologies, with the ability to explain their differences, advantages, and trade-offs.
Strong working knowledge of common software engineering and collaboration tools such as Git, Asana, Confluence, Slack, and similar platforms.
Strong understanding of various testing approaches, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, as well as test automation, performance testing, and security testing.
Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
Project Management Skills:
A strong ‘get-it-done’ mindset with exceptional attention to detail, ensuring dependencies, follow-ups, and deliverables do not get missed.
Ability to deliver results in fast-paced, high-growth environments, balancing agility with quality, and remaining comfortable with evolving requirements and shifting priorities.
Exceptional organizational skills in fast-paced environments.
Strong proficiency in planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and stakeholder management.
Strong proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks.
Proven ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.
Experience leading distributed or global teams.

Highly Beneficial: Knowledge of how AI works ‘under the hood’ (i.e different model types, sizes of models, quantization, tokenization etc)
Highly Beneficial: Knowledge of the general AI landscape from a product perspective (i.e recent new announcements by big tech, popular new technologies etc)
Basic knowledge of database systems, including SQL and NoSQL.
Basic experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar containerization technologies.
Thorough understanding of quality control and assurance processes to ensure project deliverables meet established standards.
Basic understanding in identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks in software.
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
